It seems to have become a tradition - feeding veterans on Veterans Day.  Plenty of restaurants do it, Golden Corral and Applebees are a couple that come to mind, and the WIKY Morning Show, too, with our Sixth Annual Vets Breakfast aboard the LST 325.

When we decided we wanted to do something special for Tri-state vets six years ago, the LST hadn't been docked in Evansville for that long and we weren't sure if they wanted to do anything like a free breakfast.  They didn't hesitate to agree and it's been going on every year since.

We chatted on the WIKY Morning Show about an article we found and the reaction was quite interesting.

First, here are seven clear signs you might have a work spouse from CNN.com and Career Builder.com -

In our house, Jeff does most of the cooking, which is fine with me.  He's very creative in the kitchen, and like most creative types, he has his "routine" when he goes to the grocery store.  As a matter of fact, whenever we go to the store together, I get accused of stealing his "supermarket mojo."

A couple of stories made the rounds over the weekend that aren't related but have something in common -

Don't forget that this is the weekend we finally get our hour back from last Spring.  Set your clocks back one hour Saturday night before you hit the sack.

As my wife Lora and I walked into the Walmart in Newburgh last night, we were greeted by a large, decorated Christmas tree inside the door.  Really can't complain that it's too early, it's November after all, but it does force you to start thinking about what to buy as gifts this year.

We talked about it on the WIKY Morning Show.  The Consumer Electronics Association’s holiday forecast is officially out:

Earlier this week, we had a Love Court entry about a first-date deal-breaker and it's generated another topic of conversation.  First Date Nightmares!

We had plenty of people call and email with horror stories about first dates gone  bad, but this has to be my favorite of them all.  Here's the email I got:

Sometimes on the morning show, we'll share a story that is simply amazing.  This morning we had one of those stories.  Straight from the news wire, here it is:

"A 15 month-old baby girl survived a fall from a seventh-floor apartment in Paris almost unscathed after bouncing off a cafe awning and into the arms of a passer-by.

The infant had been playing unsupervised with her four-year-old sister when she somehow fell out the window.

On the WIKY Morning Show today, we shared an item we found on-line about the facts and fiction about shampooing your hair -

Occasionally on the morning show, we have a fun little feature we like to call "Love Court."  Someone writes in with a dilemma, and we all have "jury duty" to try and help them resolve whatever their issue is. It's always a lot of fun and the responses are insightful and some are downright hilarious!

This morning we talked about a first date "deal-breaker" for this young woman.  Her issue was her date pulled out a coupon to pay for dinner....on their very first date and for her it was a total "no-no."

I hate Autumn and by that I mean, I love Autumn.  It's the most pleasant weather of the year.  But the days after Halloween, plunging headlong toward the big Fall and Winter holidays, grow shorter and shorter and become a constant deadline on squeezing in a few more warm season activities before we're locked inside for the Winter with the kids.

Since we live on a dead-end street with only 7 houses on it, we don't get that many trick-or-treaters for Halloween.  So this year, I decided to go and hang out at my mom and dad's house and help give out candy.

A website recently compiled a few rules of thumb for trick or treaters and what's funny is that they still apply, no matter how many years it's been since you last went door to door on Halloween.

1. Old people are either very generous or give you one peanut. There is no in-between.

According to the experts, you can't fake a smile.  You may think you can, but it's a pretty hard thing to do if you know what to look for.  Diane and I were talking about it this morning.

Everyone has two smiles, according to the article from the Wall Street Journal - a real smile and a fake smile.

Every year at Halloween comes the old debate over full-size candy bars vs. fun-size candy bars. Which is better?

In my humble opinion, there is nothing better than opening up your Trick-Or-Treat bag and seeing a great big FULL SIZE Snickers or Baby Ruth candy bar waiting!  As DJB said, "Fun Size is annoying size!"

My husband Jeff posted this video on his Facebook page and I just think this is a wonderful story!

Zach Beckman is a senior at Jasper High School who has Down's Syndrome.  He's been a loyal and valueable member of the football team for four years and his dream was to score a touchdown during a game.

Well, thanks to the generosity of the Mt. Vernon football team and their coach, Paul Maier, he was able to do just that. I had to grab the Kleenex about halfway through this video.

It seems the first time I saw anybody do something really different with pumpkin carving for Halloween was on the old Roseanne show.  The show featured incredible pumpkins carved to look like Frankenstein, Dracula, and a haunted house.  They were very clever and looked terrific.  I also remember reading about another pumpkin artist who used a laser to minutely carve amazing detail in his pumpkins.

This morning as the squall line slammed through the Tri-state, I was again impressed at the resources we have at WIKY to bring you the very latest observations and reports.  Diane and I anchored the WIKY Morning Show with live reports from the WIKY Newsroom and the 14 First Alert Weather Center at WFIE-TV.  (All three meteorologists were on duty this morning and each filed a live report on the progress of the storm).

This morning we talked about Stewie, the Maine Coon Cat who measures over 4 feet in length!  He is now the biggest cat in the world according to the Guiness Book of World Records.

I guess I can never again call any of my cats "tubby" anymore!  Here'e the article with all of the details about Stewie, the gentle giant!

It's Halloween week on the WIKY Morning Show (can someone please tell us how the end of October snuck up on us?).  Traditionally, we like to supply clever, quick, and most of all, easy last minute costume ideas for both kids and adults.

Diane and I have been in rehersals for a play we're in for Civic Theatre this weekend.  It's Love Letters by A.R. Gurney.  It's a different kind of play because the entire story is told through an exchange of letters between a couple throughout their lives.  Diane and I will take the man and woman from school kids through college, then Jack and Sue Schriber portray the couple through adulthood.  It's funny, moving, and has a very surprise ending.  It's a terrific play.

Every Friday morning on the WIKY Morning Show, we have a wonderful non-profit organization in the studio to hang out with us and tell us about the work they do and their upcoming event.  They get valueable air-time on WIKY, but there's a great big catch.....first they have to feed us a delicious breakfast!  Do we feel guilty about this?  Absolutely not!

On the WIKY Morning Show we had a discusson on great and not so great generics.  Turns out there's more than meets the eye.

Here's an email we recieved from Clifton Macke -

The other day on the show, we were talking about foods that take you back to childhood and I ended up posting a blog about it on Facebook.  A very dear friend of mine remembered bringing "mass quantities of Corn Toasties" when they would come and visit us in Ohio.

Occasionally on the WIKY Morning Show, a subject will come up where the reaction takes me totally by surprise.  This morning, I mentioned that my wife needed a replacement part for one that had broken.  She had the option of buying the part on-line or buying it from a local merchant.  She made the conscious decision to buy locally.  It didn't turn out well.  After weeks of not hearing from the local store, it wasn't until she went to the store that she found that they had never even placed the order for the part.  If she had ordered the part on-line, it
