It’s nice when we have a transition like we did this year from “winter” to “summer” starting around the first of March. We didn’t have much of a winter at all in Evansville which didn’t exactly break my heart but I was worried we’d miss out on spring altogether. It’s far more common to see “summer” to “winter.” You know, those years when it’s 87 degrees right up until November 1 when the temp suddenly drops to 37 and all the leaves fall off the trees at once. Thanks to last weekend’s weather however, we were treated to a picture perfect Easter weekend with brilliant
Bob Warren, Executive Director of the Evansville Convention and Visitors Bureau and Laura Libbs, CVB’s Director of Marketing and Communication dropped by the WIKY Morning Show today to wish the city of Evansville a happy 200th birthday! The actual birthday takes place tomorrow, March 27, with two big parties to mark the event. The first is at the Children’s Museum of Evansville (cMoe) from 10am – 2pm and will feature magician Don Baggett, live entertainment by the Duke Boys, a Bicentennial cake-off among local bakeries and a great photo-op of mayors of Evansville, pas
On Sunday, March 11 the Lord called our beloved Sammy Young D’zolali Rene home to heaven. I had adopted Sammy from an orphanage in Ghana, West Africa two years ago, and he instantly became a part of our extended family and a huge part of our hearts. Sammy’s love and happiness were infectious, his broad smile would light up the room.
We discuseed on the show today the horrible weather and tornadoes in the area this past week. I want to give you information about how you can volunteer and get involved. Also, we discussed Blood Water Mission's 40 Days of Water.
With the 2012 severe weather season starting with a bang, it's time to seriously review your family's emergency plan. Everyone should know exactly where to go in a weather emergency and if possible, to get there in 30 seconds or less. You need a flashlight (with working batteries,) a NOAA weather radio, and if you have a smart phone, download the free app Tune In, which allows you to listen to WIKY on your phone. During a severe weather outbreak we simulcast WFIE-14's wall-to-wall weather coverage so you'll have a source of information at the ready
Delilah: Mother, grandmother, radio personality, artist, gardener, horse enthusiast, PIG MIDWIFE! Sister sows on my farm just gave birth to the most adorable little piggies. 14 in all!
Of all the things in life I imagined myself doing, cutting piggy umbilical cords and tying them off with string was NOT on my list. They are very small but are starting to squeal and run around!
So many of you have asked about my little piggies, so I thought I'd share my pictures with you. They are growing everyday and so cute.
Updated from January 15th show:
At this very moment, there are 27 million people in slavery around the world. This is more than ANY other time in history.
Does that statistic hit you like it hits me? That is staggering and unbelievable, but we can do something about it!
CNN spent Valentine's Day with lots of love songs, and the woman who brings them to you every night on WIKY, Delilah.
WIKY's Newsroom has expanded. Randy Wheeler has earned the most ellusive of all early morning broadcasting rewards - an alarm clock that goes off much later. Listen for Randy with WIKY News coverage throughout middays on WIKY, including the big News at Noon.
We welcome Mark Evans to Evansville (could that be why we hired him?) and to the WIKY Morning Show. Mark's a bit of a radio gypsy like Diane and me and came to the Tri-State by way of Birmingham, Alabama. We decided it might be a good idea to show him around and experience some of our favorite th
