Adult Artist Retreat

Beginning to advanced artists, are welcome to join us each month for the Adult artist retreats at the John James Audubon Museum. Bring your own artwork and supplies. We will have a variety of guest speakers throughout the year and will network ideas, techniques, workshops and tri-state area exhibits. All students contribute to a pot-luck lunch. The Great Vendetta: The Hatfield-McCoy Feud Presented by John Tierney Saturday, June 22

Arguably, the most famous and bitter family feud, waged between the Kentucky McCoys and the West Virginia Hatfields, spurred deep disputes in the late 1800s between these two states before eventually going before the Supreme Court. This demonstration of family and regional pride led to losses on both sides. Transport yourself to post-Civil War Appalachia with John Tierney.

“Shutterbug” Photography Exhibit *Celebrating 75years at Audubon State Park*

The Audubon Museum and Friends of Audubon presents the annual “Shutterbug” juried photography exhibition. “Shutterbug” theme will be “Celebrating 75 Years of Audubon State Park” The Beauty of Audubon State Park is never ending with its beauty and broad range of nature, trails, lakes and museum courtyard gardens. Shutterbug will showcase color film, black & white and digital nature works by regional and local photographers. Photos must not be older than 2 years and not shown before at Audubon. The Artists reception and Awards will be June 27th from 6:00-7:30 and is open to the public. Awards will be given for Best of Show; First, Second and Third Place. The show is juried and is sponsored by the Audubon Friends of Audubon.

The theme has a broad range from nature, campground activities, museum courtyard gardens, or trails. The beauty of Audubon is endless. It will showcase color film, black & white and digital nature works by regional and local photographers. Awards given for Best of Show; First, Second and Third Place. The show is juried and will be sponsored by the Friends of Audubon and the John James Audubon Museum.

Audubon Junior Forensics Science Camp

Audubon Center (drop off and pick up will be at the Campground Shelter) Ages 8-17 Camp size 15 students. Pre-registration required Payment due by July 5, 2013.
Applications and waivers are due at time of payment. These are available at the John James Audubon Museum.
Campers become forensic scientists as they work through a non-gruesome crime scene to collect, examine, evaluate, and interpret physical evidence found at the scene including hair, fiber, fingerprints, and DNA. This camp is designed to provide a basic foundation in the application of Forensic Science, the study and application of science to the processes of law. What a better way to end summer and start off the new school year than to join us for a week of forensic learning and fun!

Grow Up Green is a day camp located at the Lakeview Shelter where kids will learn healthy habits, cook healthy meals, plant a vegetable garden here at the park, learn about recycling, re-purposing, sustainable living practices, and participate in daily nature hikes and even a kids yoga class! Bring a sack lunch, drinks will be provided.
