Global Crossroads World Music and Cultural Festival is October 4The University of Southern Indiana, Historic New Harmony and Under the Beams invite the public to the inaugural Global Crossroads World Music and Cultural Festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, October 4, in New Harmony, Indiana. The free daylong festival of art and culture is focused on the continent of Africa and will be highlighted by performances by Ugandan multi-instrumentalist Kinobe and Wamu Spirit. There also will be drum circles, art, textile and African clothing shows, hands-on activities, the installation of a new global art exhibit (Eames Demetrios’ Kcymaerxthaere) at the Atheneum, and more. That evening, Under the Beams will feature Kinobe and Wamu Spirit in concert at 7 p.m. at Murphy Auditorium in New Harmony. Tickets are $30.Throughout the week beginning Monday, September 29, Kinobe and his band will visit area schools and the Evansville African American Museum to put on workshops and concerts.
