| | Deaconess Farmers Market (Community) Ongoing Event, Ends 8/31/2011
Deaconess is hosting a community Farmers Market each Wednesday through mid-October, weather permitting, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on the Deaconess Hospital campus off Edgar Street, behind the Deaconess Physicians Center building. The first Farmers Market of the season is Wednesday, May 26. There will also be a Farmers Market on Thursdays at the Gateway campus. The Deaconess Farmers Market provides employees and Deaconess Hospital neighbors the opportunity to purchase a variety of healthy, seasonal produce without the hassle of having to go very far to shop. St. Mary’s Health System is very excited to announce Market Days 2010 will begin on Thursday, July 8th and will take place every Thursday through October 14th. Market Days will run from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and will be held on the Washington Avenue side of our campus along St. Mary’s Boulevard.
July 8th’s kick-off will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a blessing at 9:00 a.m. and will feature special extended hours, as the vendor booths will stay open until 7:00 p.m. The day will include live music and a lot of fun!
All St. Mary’s employees and the public are welcome to join us as we celebrate and promote healthy living, the blessings of the season and the hard work of our local farmers.
Twenty vendors will be on the St. Mary’s campus showcasing their items for sale. Be sure to stop by for:

| | “A Horse’s Tale” Exhibit at The National Quilt Museum (Arts and Entertainment) Ongoing Event, Ends 11/12/2010
THE NATIONAL QUILT MUSEUM HONORS KENTUCKY’S HOSTING OF THE ALTECH FEI WORLD EQUISTRIAN GAMES WITH EXHIBIT THAT INCLUDES KENTUCKY MADE QUILTS
“A Horse’s Tale” Exhibit at The National Quilt Museum includes quilts made in Kentucky.
PADUCAH, KY AUGUST 19, 2010 — The National Quilt Museum’s “A Horse’s Tale” exhibit is sure to delight horse lovers and quilt lovers alike. The exhibit features 23 quilts, including 6 from Kentucky. The quilt, “Xela Wins at Keeneland,” was made by Paducah’s Lowertown artist, Deb Lyons and portrays Xela, a winning horse from the Mother's Day 2008 race at Keeneland Racetrack in Lexington, Kentucky. At the time of this win, Xela was trained by Jake Secor, son of Patience Renzulli, who, with her artist husband Bill, also owns a gallery in Lowertown in Paducah.
“Horse Show Memories” by Nancy Turner of Cadiz, KY is made up of some of the many ribbons won by Emily Champion who began showing horses at the age of 4. “Yellow Rose” by Shirley Gentry of Carlisle, KY is the costume worn by Annie, a horse used at Central Kentucky Riding for Hope (CKRH), a program located at the Kentucky Horse Park for those with special needs. “Dancing With A Star” by Terry Bratfish of Georgetown, KY was inspired by the Grand Prix Freestyle performance of USDF medalist Pam Fowler Grace and her dance partner 'Star in Stripes'.
“Running Free” by Jan Darnell of Taylorsville, KY depicts horses running in an open field. “Forever Faithful, in Dark of Night and Wind and Rain” by Kathy Griffin Johnson, Stamping Ground, KY is a tribute to the ever faithful horse. The exhibit also features 14 works from guest artist Shirley P. Kelly of Colden, NY who is internationally recognized for her quilts depicting horses and other animals.
The National Quilt Museum’s “A Horse’s Tale” exhibit honors Kentucky as the first site outside of Europe to host the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. The horse themed exhibit runs now through November 16, 2010. Designated as The National Quilt Museum of the United States, NQM is a non-profit institution located at 215 Jefferson Street in downtown Paducah, KY. The Museum is open year-round Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. CST. The Museum is also open on Sundays 1-5 p.m. April - October. The National Quilt Museum is ADA compliant. Who: Southwestern Indiana Master Gardeners Association (SWIMGA), a non-profit organization with over 340 active members from the Tri-State area, trained thru Purdue Extension Service
What:”Demonstration Day at the Master Gardener Display Gardens.” All demonstrations will last approximately a half hour each and are FREE and OPEN to the public!
When: Saturday, October 2, 2010 beginning at 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Where: Southwestern Indiana Master Gardeners Display Gardens at the State Hospital ground at 3501 Lloyd Expy. Adjacent to the Boy Scout Headquarters. Parking available at the Boy Scout Headquarters lot.
Why: The main focus of the Master Gardener program is to educate the public. The demonstration will cover: 8 a.m. The Water Garden by Kay Haller, 9 a.m.Raised Beds by Ernie Hicks, 10 a.m.Beekeeping by Alan Vale, 11 a.m. Composting for Small Gardens by Larry Vadbunker, 12 a.m. Constructing a Cold Frame by Greg Gordon, 1 p.m. Dividing Perennials by Kate Lynch, 2 p m. Fall Vegetable Garden Cleanup by Peter Frederick.
Additional Information: A cold frame will be given away to one lucky guest. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer gardening questions.

| | Bingo for a Cure (Organizations)
Bingo for a Cure - Saturday, October 2 will be the fourth annual Bingo for a Cure with some proceeds going to the Evansville affiliate of Komen for the Cure. Total cash prizes of $10,000 to be given away in the bingo games. Holy Spirit Bingo activities will include a special $1,000 “pink” bingo game with a cash prize up to $1,000. Special pink ribbon merchandise will be sold with the proceeds going to the Evansville affiliate of Susan G. Komen Foundation. Participants are encouraged to wear a pink shirt, hat or ribbon to show your, and all participants must be at least 18 years old and purchase a door ticket in order to attend. Door prizes will also be given away, so arrive early.
Prices start at $20 in order to play at least one or more bingo sheet for each game. Participants may purchase as many as needed at the door.

Evansville Native, Ryan Seaton, Concert in Hometown
Evansville, In. — Grammy Nominated artist Ryan Seaton, who charmed fans all over the world during his tenure with Ernie Haase and Signature Sound will perform at Christian Fellowship Church on October 3, 2010. Seaton who embarked on his solo career in June will sing songs from his first project, “The Stage is Bare.” The album is reminiscent of the Crooners’
style of the 1950’s and has been to compared to secular artists such as Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble’.
The concert for Seaton is a homecoming having been on tour from North Carolina to California in the last few months. “I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to sing at CFC. It is my home church and I love the people. I cannot wait to perform for all my friends and family at such a wonderful place of worship.”
Ryan Seaton’s official CD release party and debut concert took place in Louisville, Ky. on Friday, June 4, 2010. Ryan’s solo career has taken off and created lots of buzz in the Christian music industry. Ryan has already been featured on Trinity Broadcast Network with over one-million viewers as well as being featured in an upcoming issue of Singing News Magazine. Seaton has partnered with Crossroad’s Distribution to place his products in retail locations as well as provide radio support. Ryan has also been named a spokesperson for Compassion International, a non-profit whose mission is to release children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults. “I feel honored that Compassion International has entrusted me to be a voice for the organization,” comments Seaton. “I cannot even begin to comprehend the level poverty that these children face everyday. If I can educate the public about Compassion then I can help the kids.” |

Food and craft vendors are needed for the show on Oct. 16. Craft demonstrations are welcome. Cabins and camping are available during this time for vendors.
