Dick Clark

There are a lot of people who aren't what they seem. After meeting him in person, I can honestly say if you liked Dick Clark on TV, you would have liked him in real life.  Even though over the last three years he's become a target of riducule (staying on the air after a stroke is not something I would have done) but he was one of the hardest working people in show business.  He was a TV producer and innovator, creating shows like the American Music Awards, Academy of Counrty Music Awards, So You Think You Can Dance, The Golden Globes.  He came up with the idea and created the New Year's Rockin' Eve in 1972, replacing Guy Lombardo.  He owned a chain of resteraunts and music theatres.  True story, Shawn Colvin played a special concert at the Dick Clark American Bandstand Grill in Indianapolis for a few select radio people.  Dick Clark videotaped a special introduction for the show.  He was the hardest working person in show business.  Here's the NBC News Tribute to Dick Clark we aired on the Afternoon Show Wednesday.
