July 30th WIKY Morning Show

The Olympics are officially underway in London, with the Opening Ceremonies held last Friday night.  I didn't catch much of them, but did see the Queen officially open the games.  I find it interesting that Queen Elizabeth has been on the throne for 60 years, but this is the first time in her monarchy that the Olympic games have been held in London.  The last time the city hosted them was in 1948 and she didn't become Queen until 1952.

Our media partner 14 WFIE will be providing us with Olympic reports throughout the games; that way we don't miss anything!

Over the weekend, Diane found a veggie burger mix with an expiration date of 2001!  She estimates that since she bought that mix, she's brought it with her in 4 different moves, yet she's never eaten it!  We heard from listeners with a variety of expired items in their cupboards. Among them, Clabber Girl baking powder with an expiration date of 1995, Sage with an expiration date of 1998 and our favorite......a bottle of 7-Up that still has the bottle cap on.....from 1966!

Suzanne Draper of Vanderburgh County CASA visited with us about their big event coming up on Friday at the Casino Aztar Events Center.  It's called Walk the Runway, presented by Shoe Carnival. Diane Douglas and her dad are just a couple of the many people modeling footwear from Shoe Carnival and helping raise funds for this wonderful organization.  If you want more info, just click on the link here:
