We talked with meteorologist Byron Douglas about the storms that hit Louisville and Churchill Downs yesterday.  Here are some dramatic shots of the damage to the Backside –

We had a wonderful discussion about old stuff that you still use.  Diane has some old Pyrex cookware that goes back years.  We only found out recently that Pyrex hasn’t been made in Corning, NY in 25 years and the new stuff made in China has a tendency to explode in your oven.  DJB still uses coffee cans from the 50s and 60s for hardware odds and ends that came with an old house he purchased a number of years ago.  Among the items still in use by listeners – an ironing board that dates to the 40s, a Wells Fargo breakfast platter that a lady has been eating breakfast from since she was a little girl, and plenty of families are still using Grandma’s cookie cutters and rolling pin.  Fun topic, thanks!

Also, there was a happy ending to the missing Yorkie named Max. He was stolen from his Northside home a month ago and he's been safely returned to his owners! Thanks to their successful Facebook campaign, Max is back with his loving humans. They are having a pet safety event on Sunday, June 26 at the Rural King on St. Joe Avenue from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. We're pretty sure Max will be there to say hi to all of his newfound fans!

A couple of items from "The Dish"--

Looks like George Clooney is available.....again.  He called it quits with his Italian girlfriend of 2 years; seems she told the press that she envisions herself married. Since the "M" word always sends George packing, it happened again.

And, sad news about Glen Campbell.  He announced yesterday that he's been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. Campbell, who is 75, says he is planning a farewell concert dates to thank all of his loyal fans. Campbell was suffering from some short-term memory loss issues and was diagnosed about 6 months ago.
