WIKY Morning Show Re-Cap Sept 30

** This story was in the news yesterday, and people are understandably a bit upset about it. Looks like it's time to start storing all your cash in your mattress again.  Remember those banks we bailed out?  They still want to hold your money for you . . . but now when you take some OUT, they want to keep a piece for themselves.

--The latest?  Bank of America . . . the largest bank in the country . . . just announced that starting next year, they'll charge a $5 monthly fee for you to use your debit card.

--That's right:  If you use your debit card for anything other than taking money out of an ATM, a $5 charge will be added to your account that month.

--And they're not alone.  Other giant banks, like Chase and Wells Fargo, are testing debit card fees and could roll them out soon.  Other smaller banks have already started instituting them.  This is the airline baggage fees all over again. Plus, a new survey found that 66% of Americans would seriously consider not using their debit card if their bank started charging them for it.

**The 90th Annual West Side Nut Club Fall Festival gets underway next week on Franklin Street! There are 10 new food booths and over 30 new food items this year.  Of course, we'll be sampling at each and every booth and will be giving our reviews and recommendations for you all week long.  And, through tomorrow at Old National Bank locations, you can buy a pre-sale voucher for wristbands for the carnival rides.  The pre-sale price for the wristbands is $15; if you wait to buy them during the festival, they'll run you $17. **We welcomed the YMCA as our Extortion Breakfast as the Evansville Half Marathon is a week from Sunday!  It's a great fundraiser for the many programs that the Y offers our community.  There's still time to sign up for the race or to volunteer.  For more information, click on the link here:  http://evansvillehalfmarathon.org

**A great event is happening downtown tonight and tomorrow; it's the "GRILLIN' FOR GILDA OINKTOBERFEST!"  A beer stueb happens tonight from 6 p.m. until midnight at Old National Place on Main Street between Riverside and Second Street.  Then 24 BBQ teams will compete on Saturday in the judged barbeque cooking competition.  There's also a 32-team cornhole tournament, with all proceeds going to the Gilda's Club of Evansville, as they continue to raise funds to build a clubhouse that supports cancer patients and they're families.
