Business leaders to be recognized and honored
Each year, Junior Achievement and Evansville Business Journal recognize top community leaders in various disciplines. The next round of winners will be honored at a breakfast at The Centre March 13th. They include John David Engelbrecht, Linda White and the late Thomas Morton, Jr., Engelbrecht is Chairman of South Central Media. White is president and CEO of Deaconess Health System. Morton was the late founder and CEO of Hoosier Cardinal Corporation Fiberfil.
South Central Media owns WIKY and nine other radio stations, a nationwide audio visual services provider, and a digital marketing company specializing in websites and Internet marketing. During White's tenure, Deaconess has grown to include the Women's Hospital , Deaconess Gateway, the Heart Hospital and Deaconess Clinic. Morton helped the Tri-State become recognized as "Plastic Valley," employing 60,000 workers, before he died in 1993.
USI President Linda Bennett - the chair of this year's Laureate Selection Committee - recognized them as true leaders, "successful in business, strong advocates for the community and excellent role models for young men and women."
